Stipendium för svenskrelaterad utbildning

Ett av SWEAs syften är att stödja svenskrelaterad utbildning och bibehållandet av svensk kultur. En del i detta arbete är att årligen dela ut ett eller flera stipendier på Lucia firande i december.

Vem kan söka?

Stipendiet är öppet att söka för alla oavsett kön, ålder eller nationalitet så länge man inte är SWEA- medlem eller nära familj till en medlem i SWEA (barn och make).

  • Ansökan måste ha en direkt svensk anknytning och gälla någon form av utbildning.
  • Sökande ska vara minst 16 år.
  • Sökanden måste bevisa att man har kontakt med den skola, institution eller liknande som man planerar att studera vid.
  • Utbildningen måste vara avslutad senast november månad året efter.
  • Sökande ska vara villig att ge en presentation av sina avslutade studier genom en personlig presentation, inspelad presentation eller ”webinar” till SWEA Dallas senast i november månad året efter beviljat stipendium.
  • Sökande ska skriftligen redovisa för SWEA Dallas hur stipendiet har använts.

Vad kan stipendiet användas till?

  • TISUS (ett nationellt, behörighetstest i svenska avsett för studenter med utländsk gymnasie-utbildning som söker till högskoleutbildning i Sverige).
  • Utbildning i det svenska språket eller den svenska kulturen (i USA eller i Sverige).
  • Studieresor, kurslitteratur, mm.
  • Annan form av utbildning med svensk anknytning

Stipendieansökan måste vara oss tillhanda senast den 31 oktober. I ansökan bör stipendiaten beskriva sin bakgrund samt redogöra i detalj för vad stipendiet önskas användas till. Vi ber även stipendiaten om en skriftlig redogörelse om hur stipendiet använts inom ett år.

Scholarship for Studies related to Sweden

The Swedish Women’s Educational Association (SWEA) is to promote the Swedish language, culture and traditions. SWEA Dallas achieves this by awarding educational scholarships during our annual Lucia celebration.

Who can apply?

Anyone is welcome to apply for the scholarship regardless of gender, age or nationality as long as you are not a SWEA member or close family of a SWEA member (children or husband). You can apply if you meet the following requirements:

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • Interested in at least one of the following areas: Swedish history, language or culture.
  • Have evidence of being in contact with the institution/s where your studies will take place.
  • Complete your studies by November the following year.
  • Be willing to give a live presentation, recorded presentation or webinar detailing your experience with your studies to SWEA Dallas.

Give an account for how the scholarship money was used (in writing to SWEA Dallas)

  • Anyone is welcome to apply for the scholarship regardless of gender, age or nationality as long as you are not a SWEA member or a close family member of a SWEA member (children or husband).
  • Scholarship is for studies with a direct Swedish connection.
  • Applicant should live in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

What can the scholarship be used for?

  • TISUS test (a Swedish national test given to students born abroad who wish to apply to Swedish universities).
  • Swedish language lessons.
  • Study of Swedish culture (Concordia camps for example) in the US or in Sweden.
  • Study trips, course text-books, etc.

The application must be sent no later than 31st of October. The application should contain a short description of yourself and your interests, and details of what the scholarship will be used for. It may be written in English or Swedish.

The recipient will be notified in conjunction with the SWEA Dallas Lucia celebration on December 3, 2022, and the information will also be published on the SWEA Dallas website.

We ask that the recipient submits a written report of how the scholarship money was used within a year.
